Jackson's work is usually large in scale but he has made these two images available exclusively to Walton and Bovill in an edition of 50. The title pays homage to the now seminal quote of Jean Luc Goddard ldblquote The cinema is truth 24 frames-per-second
dblquote . These images are taken on the beaches of East Anglia late at night and are from the series Dark Light 2 which were first shown at the Peter Pears Gallery in Aldeburgh as the invited artist for the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival in 2013. ilquote Dark Light is the light you feel but cannot see'. i0 When standing on the beaches at night looking out to sea in total darkness you feel what you can hear - the crashing of the waves. You cannot see them but with a long exposure the camera picks up the unseen ambient light to produce remarkable images. Using that as a formulae to analyse what the Dark Light images actually are and to ex- plain what time or long exposure photography is, Jackson took the Jean Luc Goddard equation and translated it into i 24 frames per second x 60 seconds x exposure time = frame count (title). dcf0i0fs22
